A Chinese company is offering $10.4 million to get an American company to send its products through China instead of the U.S. It’s the latest in a string of business deals between the two countries.
The deal was announced Friday in a joint statement from the two companies.
The announcement came a day after China’s state media said the companies would launch an international marketing campaign that will feature Chinese-language ads on the company’s website.
The two companies will launch the new ads on Tuesday, China’s State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT) said in a statement.
China’s government is trying to promote itself to the world as a global technology powerhouse.
It wants to become a leading manufacturing hub and has sought to lure companies like Boeing, Caterpillar, GE and Ford to build plants and employ thousands of people in the country.
