China’s air freight shipments to U.S. soar to record levels in January

Beijing — The Chinese air freight shipment to the U.N. headquarters in New York City reached record levels for the first time in January, according to the United Nations.

Bureau of International Transportation Statistics said Thursday that China’s cargo to the office jumped more than 8 percent in January to a record 6.1 million tons, compared with 4.9 million tons in January of 2016.

The shipment includes more than 2.2 million tons of goods and more than 10.3 million tons cargo of passenger and cargo.
